1. Spend a morning exploring the city of Palma
The island’s capital has an old town that is a real gem. You can stroll through its cobblestone streets, visit the impressive gothic style cathedral and admire the architecture of the historic buildings. The Plaza Mayor is a symbolic place to have a coffee and enjoy the atmosphere.
I was also very impressed by the “patis,” as they call the “patios,” which are one of the typical things that the locals are most proud of. They are less famous than those in Cordoba, and they are not as flowery but still beautiful! Can Bordils is one of the best known, but the one I liked the most was Can Balaguer.
Here’s a list of things to see and do in the city of Palma:
- Visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Palma.
- Contemplate the Patios Mallorquines (Mallorcan Courtyards)
- Get lost in the neighborhood of Santa Catalina
- Climb the Bellver Castle
- Visit the Lonja
- Walking along the Paseo Marítimo
- Eating at the Olivar Market
- Visit the Plaza Mayor
- Walking through the streets of the Old Town
- Visit the Royal Palace of L’Almudaira
Don’t miss the best museums in Palma!
2. Explore the incredible Drach caves
The Drach caves, located on the east coast of Mallorca in the village of Porto Cristo, are one of the island’s main tourist attractions.
The visit to the caves of Drach lasts about 90 minutes. You can walk inside the caves following an itinerary that will allow you to see some of the most beautiful rooms and small lakes with spectacular formations of stalagmites and stalactites.
At the end of the tour, you will arrive at Martel Lake, one of the largest subway lakes in the world, where you will enjoy a live classical music concert. A unique experience!
After the concert, you can board one of the small boats that will take you on a short 3-4 minute ride on Martel Lake.
You can buy your tickets here!
3. Grab your snorkeling gear and dive into the Mediterranean waters
Mallorca is an island with beaches and coves with crystal clear waters that will leave you speechless. So snorkeling in Mallorca is one of the island’s best activities, especially during the summer.
The waters of the Mediterranean are not only breathtakingly beautiful but also characterized by impressive biodiversity.
In Mallorca, if you have a little sight, it is easy to find octopus, moray eels, sea worms, starfish, red mullet, sea bream, sardines, marlin, and salps quite easily.
The only thing we need to enjoy snorkeling in Mallorca is to find the right places to practice it. You will have to look for rocky areas with a certain depth and where there is little current.
These are some of the best places to snorkel and where you will find a lot of marine species:
- Cala En Basset
- Port des Canonge
- Estellencs Cove
- Sa Calobra
- Caló d’en Monjo or Caló des Monjo
- El Delta Beach
- Llombards Cove
The best thing about this activity is that besides being super fun and being in contact with nature, it is free!

4. If you can indulge yourself, rent a boat!
If you want to enjoy spectacular views of the coast of Mallorca, a boat trip is an excellent option. But even better is that you can give yourself the whim of renting a boat and live this experience at least for a day!
Besides, Mallorca has a lot of hidden coves that can only be accessed by boat. This is great because you will have coves to enjoy on your own without having people around you!
If you are on a budget to rent a boat in Mallorca, there are also numerous companies that offer boat trips, from quiet catamaran rides to exciting speedboat rides.
You can choose from various routes, including the island’s north coast, the south coast, the bay of Palma, and many more. Drinks and food are included in most boat trips, making it a perfect way to relax and enjoy the sun and sea. In addition, there are also options for snorkeling and other water activities during the excursion.
It is up to you and what you feel most comfortable and safe with!
5. Put on your boots and go for a hike in the Tramuntana mountains
Almost everyone comes to Mallorca for its spectacular beaches. Still, many don’t know that the island also hides some incredible mountain landscapes like the beautiful Sierra de Tramuntana.
If you want to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views in one of the best places on the island, you must organize a route through Tramuntana, which has also been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
You can make different hiking trails, or you can go cycling, whatever suits you better!
6. Dedicate at least one day to visiting the Mallorcan towns
As I said before, many people’s image of Mallorca is white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. And although this is true, it is not the only thing worth seeing in Mallorca.
If you dare to leave the capital and the beaches and go inland, you will discover beautiful rural landscapes.
If you want to play it safe, visit Fornalutx. This small village was awarded a couple of years ago as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Its steep streets, toasted color, and vegetation make this village a very interesting visit.
Besides Fornalutx, another recommended place, especially for wine lovers, is Binissalem. This village, which has its own Denomination of Origin, has some of the best wineries in Mallorca.

10. Taste the famous Soller oranges
Sóller oranges are an emblematic product throughout the island. Every year, the town of Sóller celebrates a fair commemorating this citrus fruit.
The best-known type of orange is the Canoneta (famous for its great qualities of smell, taste, and quantity of juice). Still, you can also taste some of the freshest local products and other breeds of oranges grown in Sóller, such as Valencia, the Navelina, and the Navelate.
At the Orange Fair, all kinds of products made with this citrus fruit are exhibited, such as marmalade, juice, flavorings, and even an orange liqueur.
During this gastronomic day, you will enjoy delicious menus in the main restaurants of Sóller and Port de Sóller, where orange is the main ingredient.
This is one of the most original and different activities you can do in Mallorca to immerse yourself completely in the traditional locals of the island.
This year, 2023, the Orange Fair in Sóller will be on April 2nd and 3rd.
11. Treat yourself and go shopping around Palma
Mallorca has plenty of options for you to spend a fun day shopping.
You will find the best brands stores, artisans with their own stores, exclusive boutiques, and the best-known commercial brands worldwide. Mallorca opens its doors to all kinds of stores for all tastes and all budgets.
The most popular streets for shopping and my favorites are:
- Calle de Sant Miquel
- Calle de Jaume III
- Passeig del Born
If you prefer an enclosed area with all the services and stores you need, in Mallorca, you will also find many shopping centers where you can have a great shopping day. Among the main ones are:
- Mallorca Fashion Outlet
- FAN Mallorca Shopping
- Porto Pi
- Centre Comercial Son Moix
If you are like me and love to wander the streets, the local street markets have beautiful handmade items, clothing, and home decor. Here, you can also buy some souvenirs to take home or to give as gifts.
These are the markets where you will find a great variety of products:

Mallorca is one of the best-known destinations in Spain, along with Ibiza, for its vibrant nightlife.
The island has numerous bars, discos, and clubs that offer a unique experience.
In particular, the Paseo Marítimo of Palma de Mallorca is the ideal place to enjoy the night. You will find many bars and nightclubs there, including the famous Tito’s, which has been a reference in the island’s nightlife for decades.
You can also try some of the bars and clubs in the Santa Catalina area, one of the city’s trendiest areas.
Another of the most famous areas for partying is Magaluf. Here is where you will find most young people going out until late at night and where the party gets a wild touch.

13. Drink + stunning sunset in a fantastic beach club!
How about a nice cold cocktail while enjoying a sunset overlooking the sea?
Mallorca has magical places to say goodbye to the day with a mojito, a tempting dinner, and a good soundtrack.
Some of these places are considered the best beach clubs in the world. These establishments have become centers of Mediterranean nightlife.
Most offer a beach atmosphere with exclusive bars, restaurants, swimming pools, exciting parties with live music, and the most VIP guests.
This is one of the most popular activities among visitors to the island, especially in the summer months.

Mallorca is an ideal place for cycling lovers!
You will have a lot of different routes to choose from, all with spectacular views and breathtaking landscapes.
You can choose between more gentle or challenging routes, depending on your fitness level and cycling experience. One of the most popular routes is the inland villages route, which offers incredible views of the mountains and valleys of the island.
If you don’t have your own bike, don’t worry; numerous stores offer bike rentals all over the island. There are even some hotels that let you use their bicycles for free.
15. Take a ferry to Ibiza and Formentera
If you plan a long vacation in Mallorca, a good option to make the most of your trip is to make the leap to one of its neighboring islands, Ibiza and Formentera.
From Mallorca, there are daily boats with several options of schedules, for about 50€ day and return.
From March 1 to October 27, there are boats every day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10:00, arriving in Ibiza at 14:00.
In the summer months, they extend the schedule, and many boats are going from Mallorca to Ibiza and vice-versa. And the best thing is that you will arrive in two hours!
I only recommend you take the ferry to Ibiza and Formentera if you are going to spend a lot of time in Mallorca. Otherwise, it is better to stay in Mallorca and spend time exploring every corner of this amazing island.
16. Scape the sun for some hours enjoying a spa day
If you are tired of the sun or you have looked at the weather and have seen that it is going to be bad, there is no better plan than to enjoy a spa day. It is the perfect plan to relax and pamper yourself!
In Mallorca, there are numerous spas and wellness centers offering a wide variety of treatments, from massages and facials to Turkish baths and saunas.
Some spas offer spectacular views of the sea and mountains, making it an even more special experience. Some of them also offer special packages that include food and drink, making it a perfect activity to enjoy with friends or as a couple.
17. Practice a new water sport
For adrenaline lovers, in Mallorca, you can practice many different water sports, such as surfing, windsurfing, paddle surfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, diving, and much more.
Some of the best beaches to practice these sports are Es Trenc, Cala Millor, or Playa de Muro.
As you can see, Mallorca is an ideal destination for those who love adventure and fun activities. This Mediterranean island has a lot to do and explore, making it a perfect destination for a fun-filled vacation.
