Palma de Mallorca’s climate is Mediterranean, meaning it has hot summers and mild winters. And I know you’re looking this out so you can make the most of your vacations and be right on time when the weather is at its peak.
You can find different average temperatures throughout the year depending on when you travel. Also, there are sudden changes in temperature and weather conditions, so beware when planning what to pack! (which I’ll tell you below)
The average temperature in Palma de Mallorca is around 81°F in Summer. Also, it can be above 87°F, and as it is surrounded by sea and water, the humidity can make it feel even hotter.

Despite the lower temperatures, don’t be scared. Palma de Mallorca still has mild Winters compared to other parts of Europe. And it is still worth it to visit it this season. Find out here:

Cloudy days in Mallorca
In case you were wondering. Cloudy days in Palma de Mallorca are uncommon, especially during summer.
Still, cloudy days can occasionally occur. And just so you know how lucky we are sometimes, Jimena and I were so excited about vacationing in Mallorca for a few days. It was one of our first trips of many. And it was cloudy the whole weekend! What are the odds??
Well, precisely, these are: The city generally experiences around 300 days of sunshine per year. See, it is VERY uncommon that Mallorca gets cloudy.
But I get that’s how things are in life. Still, we had a fantastic time, ate great food, made some road trips, and didn’t regret the getaway even a bit!
The cloudiest months in Palma de Mallorca are December and January, the coolest months of the year. Here, Mallorca has an average of around 6 hours of sunshine daily.
Sunny days are one of the main reasons Mallorca is such a popular holiday destination. This coastal city benefits from the sea breeze. It helps to keep the skies clear and blue with the sun.
Days of rain in Mallorca
The rainy season in Mallorca starts in October and ends in December. The city gets heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and occasional flooding.
However, rain is very unfrequent in Palma de Mallorca during the rest of the year. The city experiences around 50-60 rainy days per year, most occurring during the months I mentioned.
And, when it does rain outside of the “rain season,” it lasts very shortly, and the sun returns right away!
Sunny days in Mallorca
Palma de Mallorca is a sunny and warm destination for most of the year. It has an average of 300 days of sunshine per year! Did you know this is way above average in Europe?
The city has an average of 10 hours of sunshine daily, with temperatures around 81°F to 86°F. You can expect plenty of sunny days to enjoy all the city offers.
The weather during Summer is perfect for going to the beach and doing outside activities. Lastly, the sunniest month is June, with 12 hours of sunshine daily!
And, in the cooler months of Winter, with December being the cloudiest month, it has an average of only 5 hours of sunshine per day. Still, Mallorca is very sunny and offers its people blue skies and bright days. Perfect for hikers and cyclists!
Humidity in Mallorca
This Island experiences different humidity levels depending on the time of the year.
During the summer, you can expect the humidity level to be at 60% to 80%, depending on the location and time of day, mainly due to the warm temperatures and the sea breeze.
Rule of thumb: As higher in the coastal areas, the higher the humidity.
Yes, it does feel hotter because of high humidity levels.
Contrarily, the winter months in Mallorca have humidity levels ranging from 55% to 65%, mainly due to the cooler temperatures and the lack of sea breeze.
Tip #1: My best advice for fighting humidity is to buy thermal water spray so you can refresh in the middle of a sunny day and keep the moisture in your face. Also, stay hydrated! Drink a lot of water and look for air-conditioned accommodation, so you’re comfier.
Wind in Mallorca
The prevailing winds in Mallorca are usually light and blow from the sea to the land, providing comfort from the heat and humidity.
These sea breezes are most prevalent during the summer, with winds averaging around 5-12 mph during the day.
On the other hand, in Winter, Mallorca experiences strong winds from the North and Northeast.
They are known as the Tramuntana, reaching speeds of up to 46 mph. They can cause high waves and choppy seas, so boats have more difficulty navigating the Island.
Still, Mallorca is generally a calm and peaceful island, with delightful sea breezes and mild temperatures despite the occasional strong winds.
I recommend you keep an eye on the winds at night since the winds blow downhill during the day and uphill at night.
Water temperature in Mallorca
The Mediterranean sea and the warm currents flow from June to September, making the water temperature in Mallorca around 77 and 81°F, and it can even reach 85°F on the hottest summer days! I know, ideal for swimming, relaxing at the beach, snorkeling, and enjoying Summer to the fullest.
Then, from March to May and October to November, the water temperature in Mallorca begins to cool down. Spring and Autumn are great for diving and sailing since it’s around 64-70°F. Later in Winter, the water temperatures get colder, around 55-59°F.
Best time to visit Mallorca
The best time to visit Mallorca is one of the most frequently asked questions. And the answer depends on what you value, preferences, activities, occasion, and your partner for the trip.
Still, regarding the weather, the best time to visit this beautiful Island will depend mainly on your preferences and the activities you want to do.
Let’s begin with the least favorite season to the most popular. Winter months, from December to February, are the least popular time to visit Mallorca.
You could see that coming, right? Many people agree that it is not worth visiting this sunny destination in the middle of its darker days with low temperatures of 54-59°F, adding that the temperature is too cold for swimming and water activities.
However, compared to other European countries where the weather gets extremely low and the sunny days are almost nonexistent. This Island can be a peaceful and affordable destination for scaping the cold during Winter. In case you still haven’t read this article, this is your time. It will change your mind about Winter vacationing in Mallorca.
On the other hand, Spring and autumn are popular times to visit Mallorca, especially for those seeking fewer crowds, lower prices, and mild weather to relax.
During this time, the Island gets comfy and pleasant temperatures, around 64-72°F, and the water temperature is also great for taking a dip in the sea.
I insist that the best time to visit Mallorca is Spring. It has the best of both worlds. And, if you don’t know what you can do in Mallorca during Autumn, these activities will definitely make you fall in love with the season.
Finally, the most popular time to visit is undoubtedly summer, the high season.
Temperatures in summer are usually around 77 and 86°F. But, it would help if you prepared for occasional heatwaves that can push the temperature to 86-95°F.
It is your month if you’re looking for sunny days and warm hot waters to enjoy tanning and outdoor activities.
However, keep in mind that the Island can be crowded during the summer months, so prices tend to be higher than at other times of the year.
Whatever season you choose to visit Mallorca, know that the Island offers a range of activities for everyone to enjoy!
